Ground Rules

The league will use MSN exclusively as an instant messaging service. If you are interested in joining this league you must have this and authorize all league members and use it when you are online.

Please make the effort to put 'GWHL' at the beginning of the subject line of any correspondence dealing with the league.

A reminder to everyone when you send in your lines they must be addressed: 'GWHL-Lines-Teamname-Date' in the subject line. Send them to the commish. It doesn't take that much effort, please do this. I sim at 4PM EST daily.

If a GM/Owner is going to be away for a few days they should notify the league GMs via e-mail that they will be and send another message upon their return.

Feb/26

New Activity Rules effective immediately. This is what I expect out of any GM who is in this league as far as activity is concerned.

1) Send in lines and rotate your goalies at least once a week, preferably more.

2) Answer all trade e-mails politely and promptly.

3) Take part in any part of the league that calls for an e-mail response on your part, including but not limited to the Year End Player Awards and the Re-signing of your own players.

4) Take part, preferably by your presence but if you must a list will do in the Waiver and Entry Drafts.

5) Install MSN Messenger and be available on it for discussion regularly, which means at least once a week, preferably more. (You don't have to be waiting in front of your computer with baited breath for someone to speak with you, but you do need to have it on and be visible while you are in front of it. But most of all you need to answer when someone tries to flag you down).

6) Write one press release a month in the Press Room on the Rumour Mill (I don't expect you to take more than an hour but I do expect more than 15 minutes to be spent on it.) Ideas to write on include: Trades, FA Signings, Season Previews, Season Reviews, Halfway Point Reports, Streaking Players, Slumping Players, Streaking Team, Slumping Team, Divisional/Conference Races. There are a lot of ideas there and some I haven't even touched on. You should have no problems coming up with a topic.

All told I'm asking for about 2 hours a month (and that is a very generous estimate) from each of you. Considering the amount of time I put into this league, I don't think that is too much to ask. If a GM doesn't live up to what is written here, he will be a candidate for replacement. As many of you already know, I have no problem replacing GMs who are not active, having replaced several this off-season. Don't make me do it again.

The following players will be released back into the draft pool on the eve of the 2012 draft if not signed before then: Lars Jonsson, Jarkko Immonen, Ryan Potulny, Josh Hennessy, Stefan Ruzicka, Jean-Francois Jacques, Danny Irmen, Mark Popovic, Jim Howard, Tyler Redenbach, Liam Lindstrom, Jeremy Williams, Brett Sterling

Dec/16/2008

In light of recent events (don't ask) the league has formed a Trade Committee of 5 people.

They are:

Ryan Archer- London

Dean Belanger- Quebec

Trevor Jarret-Edmonton

Doug Karnes- B.C.

Stephen J. Holodinsky- Erie

The way this will work is I will decide what deals go before the committee (any committee member has the option of calling any of my deals before the committee) and I will provide a rationale as to why I think the deal needs to be reviewed. The committee will then vote/provide rationale. Majority rules. If a committee members deal is up for review, I will recruit a GM not on the committee to take that committee members place for that deal only.

This goes into effect immediately.

Sept/3/2006

After some serious thought and looking around at other leagues I've decided that instead of the three round draft every simmed season we have now, to start with one five round draft per NHL draft class starting in the year 2014. What I thought was a good idea at the time has turned out to be an anachronism. Up until the 2014 draft we will be carrying on as normal with 2 drafts per draft class.
